The Costa Concordia parbuckling has gone well, and the ship is now off the rocks and upright. She’s still partially submerged, but she will be floated higher in the water soon – I’m not quite clear when. Congratulations are very definitely due to the salvors who have completed a very complex operation.

I’ve been away all week – I still am, in fact – and can’t do a proper post about this, but here’s a link to a good BBC page about the salvage operation, and another one showing aspects of the ship, and thoughts about the disaster, here.
